Leading Ladies: The Economic Journey of Women Entrepreneurs
As we navigate our own business goals for the year ahead, we can't help but reflect on the economic highs and lows we face as entrepreneurs. So, this week, we thought it would be the right time to investigate the world of women entrepreneurs—where they've been, where they are, and where they're headed.
This week, we spotlight women's journey in entrepreneurship, marked by resilience and challenges. Despite small and medium-sized businesses being the backbone of Canada's economy, only 17.5% are led by women. As of 2022, over 988,000 women were self-employed in Canada, yet women-led businesses face lower survival rates and need help to secure funding and networking opportunities. This underrepresentation limits women's economic opportunities and holds back Canada's overall growth.
In addition to revealing the scaries and chatting about what’s being done, we're also honoured to have Miriam Johnson, CEO of Women Entrepreneurs of Saskatchewan (WESK), to discuss all things women entrepreneurs in Saskatchewan and beyond.
Thank you for joining us in exploring the economic odyssey of women entrepreneurs. Together, we can create a less daunting world for women and girls through our awareness and collective actions. Change begins with each of us taking steps to support and empower women entrepreneurs.
